A Playful Path to Healing- for adults
Childhood wounds refers to the emotional and psychological injuries from adverse experiences in childhood, such as neglect, abuse or family dysfunction. Children who experience trauma (children who experience a single traumatic event or are exposed to an environment with repeated, on-going psychological and physical danger and/or threat of harm) can develop challenges later in life and throughout adulthood. Some challenges that can arise from experiencing childhood trauma are low self-esteem, trust issues, difficulty in relationships, and emotional distress.
Inner childhood wounds also referred as attachment wounds are a subset of childhood wounds and focuses on the emotional and relational aspects of childhood experiences. Inner childhood wounds can interrupt or severely inhibit the development of healthy, secure and safe attachments to our caregivers. As a child grows and develops they begin to form a sense of self in relation to those around them and form attachments based on how much of their needs are met. Unmet emotional needs in childhood affects the child's development to form secure attachments with their caregivers, overall impacting their ability to form healthy relationships later in life and develop long-term effects on mental, emotional and physical health. A child's attachment style is a reflection of their inner world that was shaped and molded by their outer world.
The four main inner childhood wounds are abandonment, trust, guilt and neglect. By recognizing and acknowledging your inner child wounds you can begin to heal the emotional and relational wounds due to unmet needs as a child. In this group we will explore our inner childhood wounds and re-parent our inner child through play, compassion, love and guidance all or some of which may have been absent during our childhood.
What you can you expect in the group:
Come ready to play! A Playful Path to Healing aims to create a safe, fun and welcoming environment where you are free to be a kid again. Together we will learn how childhood wounds have impacted our adult lives and share experiences of our childhood. By reconnecting with our younger self and inviting play and creativity back into our lives we can help heal the wounds left by our past. We can reclaim what was lost and reshape ourselves in the image of our desired selves and be the present, secure and safe adult we needed when we were a child.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT GROUP

If you are feeling overwhelmed and isolated by current events, the COMMUNITY SUPPORT GROUP is for you.
"Hi! My name is Jen Stahon and I am starting a support group to create a safe, laid back environment for anyone who is feeling marginalized, unsupported or unacknowledged as a result of current events.
I am a trauma trained, licensed therapist who has dedicated my career to helping people heal from trauma and how to live in contentment and inner peace. I plan to weave this energy into the group.
I will start each group with a guided meditation. We will then have a weekly topic that is the focus of the discussion. And we will then close each group with a mindfulness technique that you can do on your own!
If you are looking for a space to support, be supported and share some good vibes from a therapeutic perspective, this is your community!!!"
